OL 3 star Houston Kaahaaina-Torres commits to NU

A second offensive lineman commitment in a week for Matt Rhule and Nebraska football.

Just days after Brian Tapu committed to NU, three-star Houston interior offensive lineman Kaahaaina-Torres did the same. Kaahaaina-Torres chose the Huskers over Utah, Arizona State and Michigan State.

Kaahaaina-Torres visited Lincoln on June 21, the last of his official visits. That turned out to be in Nebraska’s favor, as one of the nation’s top centers chose the Big Red.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins was impressed with what he saw from the Husker’s new player.

β€œHe’s also good at blocking runs and passes and he’s strong on offense,” Biggins said. β€œHe bullies opposing linemen in the running game and has no problem getting to the second level. He has a high level of competition, a great work ethic off the field and a smart kid on and off the field with the academic profile to go wherever he wants. Β»

Playing for St. Louis in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kaahaaina-Torres joins freshman lineman Preston Taumua as part of a burgeoning Hawaii pipeline for Rhule. Another Hawaiian connection on the team is senior lineman Ben Scott, who also played at St. Louis before starting his college career at Arizona State.

Nebraska now has 13 commitments for the 2025 class. Including Kaahaaina-Torres, there are 10 three-stars and a trio of four-stars, according to the 247Sports Composite. 247 ranks NU’s class 38th in the country and 12th in the Big Ten Conference.
