2 dead, 2 hospitalized after crash near Hobby Airport in south Houston

HOUSTON – Authorities are piecing together what led to a deadly crash near Hobby Airport Wednesday evening, where two people were killed and two others taken to the hospital.

It happened on Galveston Rd. off Gulf Fwy near Hobby Airport shortly after 8:15 p.m. when police said a silver vehicle was trying to turn left from Timber Creek Dr. toward Galveston. That’s when police said a truck heading south on Galveston struck the silver vehicle, forcing both cars to stop more than 100 feet from the intersection.

According to Sgt. Griffiths of the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division, there were two people in the two respective vehicles, a driver and a passenger. In the silver vehicle, Sgt. Griffiths said the occupants died at the scene, while in the truck two other occupants, aged between 17 and 19, were taken to hospital in an unknown condition. No identities have been shared as of this writing.

It’s unclear what factors (like speed) played a role in the crash, but an investigation is still underway.
