GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Authorities say five suspects were arrested after driving a stolen vehicle into police vehicles.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said it began Wednesday evening when an off-duty detective noticed “suspicious activity,” including the use of stolen credit cards, at the Gaines Township Meijer.

When on-duty detectives and deputies arrived, the suspects were found in a stolen car, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspects attempted to flee, ramming the detectives’ vehicles and then running away.

According to the sheriff’s office, officers were able to locate and arrest all five suspects, aged between 16 and 20.

The case is being reviewed by the Kent County District Attorney’s Office.
