At least 3 dead in accident on I-5 near Camp Pendleton; several lanes closed

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) – At least three people were killed and a section of the highway was closed in a Thursday morning crash reportedly involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton.

The accident on I-5 southbound at Las Pulgas Road occurred around 3 a.m. The California Highway Patrol reported that numerous motorcycles were involved in the incident.

CHP officials did not initially release details about the cause of the accident, but confirmed to ABC 10News that at least three people were killed.

Due to emergency response to the crash, all lanes of southbound I-5 between Las Pulgas Road and State Route 76 were closed as of 6 a.m.

At least two lanes and an exit on I-5 northbound at Cristianitos Road were also closed.
