PREBLE COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) – The cause of death of a Preble County couple has been determined to be murder-suicide, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Angela and Matthew Hayslett were found dead in their home in the 5600 block of Sonora Road on Sunday, June 23.

The Preble County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a 911 call from the couple’s daughter at around 9:54 a.m. that day reporting their deaths.

The woman’s screams can be heard in the emergency calls.

“… My parents are dead,” She said.

“What do you mean, your parents are dead?” The dispatcher asked.

“They’re dead. I just went in to check on my dad and mom – they’re both here.” She answered.

The woman then tells the telephone operator what she saw in the house.

Oh my God, it looks like it was a few days ago.” She said.

When investigators arrived at the scene, they found 56-year-old Angela and 60-year-old Matthew dead.

According to Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson, Angela was shot and Matthew died of self-inflicted injuries.

While speaking to 911, the Haysletts’ daughter said that her parents were going through a divorce, but they were still legally married.

She said that the situation in her family had become serious and that was why she was checking on them.

According to 911 calls, the family last spoke to Angela and Matthew on Friday, June 21.

This is an ongoing investigation.
