Indian court extends bail suspension for jailed Delhi chief minister

An Indian court on Tuesday stayed a lower court’s order to release Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on bail in a corruption case. The main opposition leader remains in custody.

India’s federal anti-financial crimes agency arrested Kejriwal, a fierce critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in March on corruption charges related to the capital’s alcohol policy – allegations he denies and says are politically motivated.

A city court granted Kejriwal bail on Thursday, but investigators challenged the order in the Delhi High Court, which stayed the bail order while considering the plea.
