Hebron man arrested in Dewey Beach for drunk driving and gun possession

DEWEY BEACH, Delaware – A Hebron man was arrested Sunday evening in Dewey.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., Dewey Beach Police Officers were alerted to a driver who appeared to be unconscious at a red light in the area of ​​southbound Coastal Highway and Collins Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a black Nissan Altima whose driver, later identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Pusey, was unconscious with his foot on the brake and the vehicle in drive. While attempting to wake Pusey, officers reportedly noticed signs of intoxication. When police asked Pusey to open the door, he took his foot off the brake, causing the vehicle to begin moving and dragging an officer approximately 10 to 15 feet. Pusey initially resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody.

While searching the vehicle, officers allegedly found a cooler containing alcoholic beverages, THC vaporizers, a large concealed fixed blade knife, a rifle and a pistol.

Pusey’s blood was drawn pursuant to a court-authorized search warrant and he was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, first-degree reckless endangerment, concealed carrying of a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs. He was held at SCI on $41,850 bail.

No officers were injured.
