OSHA Proposes $64,528 Fine for Safety Violations in Fatal Accident at De Pere Company | WTAQ News Talk | 97.5FM · 1360AM

OSHA is investigating the death of a worker who was fatally injured at Robinson Inc. in De Pere. PC: Fox 11 Online

DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – OSHA proposed $64,528 in fines for a series of safety violations at Robinson Inc., including an incident in which a worker died.

The death occurred Nov. 30 at the metal fabrication company, 1740 Eisenhower Road. An obituary states that 51-year-old Russell Norman died on December 8th “as a result of an industrial accident.”

A fine of $16,131 was assessed for this violation, which is classified as a “serious” violation.

“On or about November 30, 2023, the employer failed to protect employees from the site and hazards posed by the Amada LC4020F1NT CO2 laser machine (L2). “The machine was operated with the doors open, exposing employees to hazards that resulted in them being struck or crushed,” the OSHA website says.

Norman’s obituary states that he worked at Robinson Inc. for 34 years. “He was an outstanding welder and machine/laser operator,” the obituary states.

Other violations included use of an unsecured ladder, an employee falling, machinery without proper guarding, an overpressurized air gun and improper use of extension cords.
