8-year-old girl raped in Ludhiana, Punjab, accused arrested

Ludhiana (Punjab) (India), October 2 (ANI): A 25-year-old man allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl in Old Sabzi Mandi area here on Thursday, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (ACP, North) Gurbinder Singh said the accused, who hails from Siddharthnagar in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested.
“The accused and the complainant live nearby. On Thursday, the accused Ishwar Vishwakarma lured the eight-year-old girl by promising her chocolates and Rs 50. He raped her. Her mother found the girl bleeding and the accused naked in a room. However, he pushed her and fled,” Singh told ANI.
The police have registered a case under sections 342 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under sections of the POSCO Act. (ANI)
