Police Arrest 4 Teens After DMV Pursuit – NBC4 Washington

Four teens were arrested in connection with a police chase in a suspected stolen car that passed through D.C., Maryland and Virginia Tuesday evening.

Surveillance cameras captured the chase as officers pursued the driver in an alley in Southeast D.C

The pursuit began in Prince George’s County and continued into southeast D.C., where home surveillance cameras captured several police cruisers following the white sedan.

The suspect then led authorities through the county into Virginia, where a VDOT camera on Interstate 395 captured more dangerous maneuvers. In one case, a police officer threw road nails onto the highway, but the white sedan swerved in time to avoid them. A handful of cruisers were then forced to follow suit, leading to narrow opportunities for other riders.

Police were eventually able to stop the white sedan in D.C. and four teens were arrested and charged.

The car they were in was allegedly stolen Friday by Clarence Bivens, a Stafford County man who said he had been shopping with his wife at the Tangier Outlets at National Harbor before heading to MGM for a night out. As the victim walked back to his car, he said a boy came up to him and asked him for a dollar.

“He said, ‘I’m really hungry, I need a dollar,’ and I said, ‘I don’t have a dollar for you,’ so he pulled out his gun and then said, ‘Just give me everything.’ your stuff.’ But he didn’t say ‘stuff,’ he cursed me and all that good stuff,” Bivens said. “I looked at him and said, ‘Really? Are we doing this today? And he says, “Yeah, give me the wallet, give me your phone, give me this, give me that.” I took out my keys and threw them at him, took out my phone and threw it at him. I was angrier than anything. You know, he was a little boy.

The suspects in the pursuit were arrested four days later. It was not immediately clear whether they were also charged with carjacking in Bivens.

Bivens had no idea about the pursuit and arrests until he spoke to News4. Authorities have his car and he’ll get it back – but he’s not sure what condition it’s in.
