Ecuadorian migrant accused of raping 13-year-old girl in New York said in sickening confession that he recorded the attack: prosecutor

The Ecuadorian migrant accused of raping a 13-year-old girl he bound and gagged in a Queens park told police during a taped confession that he recorded the attack, prosecutors alleged Wednesday.

The shocking admission by 25-year-old Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi interrupted the otherwise top-secret court hearing in which he was charged with rape, kidnapping and a range of other offences in connection with the shocking June 13 attack in Kissena Park.

“At first I was nervous, but then I calmed down and recorded it,” Inga-Landi admitted in the video, prosecutors said in Queens Criminal Court, eliciting sighs from the audience.

Inga-Landi, who had visible scratches on his face, frowned and kept his head down throughout the arraignment, even as a judge ordered him remanded in custody without bail until his next court date on July 1.

The shocking videotaped testimony, a transcript of which was read in court by Assistant District Attorney Kasey Esposito, revealed new details about the broad daylight attack in which the girl and a boy, both 13, were threatened with a machete-style knife.

Inga-Landi, who claimed to have a drug problem, told police he accidentally came across the two teenagers who were having “sexual relations,” Esposito read.

He told authorities that he pulled out a knife he found in the park and threatened the teenagers with it.

Inga-Landi is said to have said in the video that the migrant tied the teenagers together with a shoelace, stuffed a headscarf into the girl’s mouth and cut open her shorts and underwear.

“After that I went to buy drugs,” he said, according to prosecutors.

The attack sparked a five-day manhunt that ended Tuesday with a dramatic, videotaped arrest by neighborhood Good Samaritans who said they recognized Inga-Landi as the rapist they were looking for and surrounded and handcuffed him.
