An axe was involved in the June 13 incident | News

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with a criminal complaint against Christopher J. Cox, 35, of Spartansburg, Corry City police were called to a stabbing at 406 N. Center St. around 11 p.m. on June 13.

Police found a man with a single horizontal cut on his right upper arm and another small wound on his left forearm. The victim reported being in the area of ​​West Main Street and Union Street when Cox was standing there on a bicycle. The man told police he asked Cox why he was on the street and noted that Cox had previously had a relationship with his daughter and had not left her alone.

A struggle ensued and Cox injured his arm. The victim went to get help and police said his bicep appeared to be severed down his arm to the bone. Police believed the wound was life-threatening and applied a tourniquet. The victim was then taken to the hospital.

After caring for the victim and providing him with medical attention, the police went to the area where the altercation had taken place. There they found an axe lying on the side of the road and the road was covered with blood splatters.

The police then closed the street to search the crime scene, the affidavit states.

Hospital staff assessed the wound as life-threatening and took the victim by helicopter to UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie. Police had previously spoken to him again and he named Cox as his attacker. There is no new information about his current condition.

On the recommendation of Assistant District Attorney Charles Cantrell, Cox was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault (second-degree felonies), recklessly endangering another person (second-degree misdemeanor), and willful possession of a murder weapon (first-degree misdemeanor). The charges were filed through the office of District Judge Denise Buell.

Cox has not yet been charged with these charges as city police continue to ask the public for help in locating him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call 814-664-2222. He is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
