Two dead after traffic accident in Canadian County on Friday evening

EL RENO, Oklahoma (KFOR) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a man and a woman were killed in a collision on Highway 81 in Canadian County Friday evening.

Authorities responded to an accident that occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on Highway 81 and 192nd Street, just 7.5 miles north of El Reno.

According to OHP, a semi-trailer driven by Arthur L. Setzer, 49, was traveling north on Highway 81 when an SUV driven by Javier Ocampo-Ojeda, 61, was traveling west on Northwest 192nd Street and attempted to cross the highway before being struck by the semi-trailer.

Ocampo-Ojeda was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining injuries in the crash. Reyna Pallares Reyes, 65, a passenger in the SUV, also died at the scene of her injuries, authorities said.

OHP reported that Setzer was transported and taken to a local hospital in good condition.

The incident is still under investigation.
