Woman and daughter attacked by neighbors

Sambalpur: A woman and her daughter were attacked with a sharp weapon by a neighbour over an alleged land dispute in Gopalmal-Danipali on Friday morning. Indu Das (45) and her daughter Payal Das (23) sustained serious injuries and were taken to Vimsar, Burla.Payal and Indu were about to leave their house on a scooter at 9 am to go to work when their neighbour attacked them multiple times, inflicting multiple injuries on their chest, abdomen, mouth and back.First, they were taken to the district hospital and later shifted to Burla for further treatment. According to sources, Indu’s husband, a tailor, was unable to work due to his deteriorating health.The mother and daughter had recently bought land near the Mahamaya temple in Gopalmal-Danipali area of ​​the city, which led to a conflict with the accused neighbour.Sub-district police officer (sadar) Tophan Bag said, “The mother and daughter are undergoing treatment in Vimsar, Burla. Both have sustained injuries to several parts of their bodies. We are investigating the case. So far, no one has been arrested by the police.”
