Spokane police search for Chevrolet Silverado after downtown hit-and-run that killed woman

Police are searching for a driver who sped away after hitting and killing a woman in her late 70s as she crossed the street at the corner of Browne Street and Main Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

The call about a hit-and-run downtown came to Spokane police around 12:50 p.m. Officers responded immediately, but the gray or champagne-colored Chevrolet Silverado truck had already driven away, said police Lt. Nate Spiering.

The woman was taken to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, Spiering said.

Officers examined the crime scene using 3D scans of the intersections, searched the neighborhood for video evidence and spoke to as many witnesses as possible, he said.
