US pop-rock band LANY have postponed their upcoming Australian tour, which was due to begin next week, after lead singer and guitarist Paul Klein was involved in a serious accident.

In a statement, the band said they are already looking for new dates in Australia and New Zealand and urged fans to hold on to their tickets until further details are announced. Once the new dates are announced, customers who cannot make it will be able to get a refund from their original point of purchase.

As for the postponement, Klein revealed that he was hit by a car while riding his Vespa last week and ended up being taken to the hospital on a stretcher in an ambulance. He now needs time to focus on his recovery.

The artist said he was happy to be alive and wrote:

Hi everyone – last Thursday evening I was hit by a car while riding my Vespa home from the gym. I don’t remember anything after the collision… I woke up on a stretcher being put into an ambulance. I’ve cried many tears of gratitude and happiness over the last few days. I know how lucky I am to still be here.

All my vitals are good, but walking and running around is still a challenge. I am getting better and will be back to 100% very soon. Doctors have advised us to postpone our upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand to speed up the recovery.

to those of you who bought a ticket for Australia/New Zealand, hold on to it, the new dates will be announced shortly. Thank you for your understanding. This experience has only increased my sense of purpose, so I can’t wait to get well and get on with it. All other tour dates remain the same. I love you and this life deeply! See you soon

LANY are scheduled to begin their tour next Wednesday (June 19) at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall, followed by major dates in Perth (HBF Stadium), Adelaide (Hindley Street Music Hall), Sydney (Hordern Pavilion), Melbourne (Margaret Court Arena) and Auckland (Auckland Town Hall).
