EMSA heat warning ends, temperatures fall to over 26 degrees

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – EMSA’s first heat warning for 2024 has expired as temperatures dropped Monday.

According to EMSA, paramedics have responded to eleven calls for heat-related illnesses since the alert was issued on Thursday, June 6, and transported six patients to nearby hospitals.


In Oklahoma City, the weather is expected to be milder, with temperatures falling to over 27 degrees Celsius by Wednesday.

EMSA issues a heat alert when paramedics respond to five or more calls for heat-related illnesses within 24 hours.

The authorities are urging the population to pay attention to their safety as temperatures are expected to rise again.

  • Drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours before being exposed to the summer heat
  • Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat when working outdoors
  • Take plenty of breaks in the shade
  • No alcohol or caffeine
  • If you don’t have air conditioning, find a cooling station or a public area with air conditioning during the day
  • Do not limit the use of your air conditioning
  • Use the buddy system when working outdoors
  • Look for older neighbors
  • Always carry a mobile phone with you when outdoors
