OPA-LOCKA, FLA. (WSVN) – One man was killed and one person was arrested by police after a shooting in Opa-locka.

Opa-locka Police units arrived at the scene of the incident in the area of ​​Northwest 17th Avenue and 142nd Lane shortly before 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics transported the victim to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Back at the scene, officers set up a perimeter with the assistance of Miami-Dade police.

“I was about to leave to get breakfast, but they told me I wasn’t allowed to go,” said local resident King Jordan. “So I had to wait about an hour and a half for them to give me permission, and after they gave me permission to go, I left.”

MDPD investigators said they arrested one person to determine their involvement in the shooting, but as of late Saturday night, it was still unclear if that person was connected to the crime as police continue their investigation.
