Police investigate death of 2-year-old boy in pool

BROCKTON – Police are investigating the drowning of a 2-year-old boy at a Brockton swimming pool on Saturday, officials said.

Police received a 911 call around 9:15 a.m. reporting that a 2-year-old boy was found unconscious in a backyard pool at 111 Ardsley Circle, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said in a written statement.

“Brockton police and emergency personnel responded and transported the male victim to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” said a spokesman for District Attorney Timothy Cruz. “His identity is not being determined at this time.”

The house has a 41.8 square meter pool, which according to the land registry documents was built in 1980.

The incident remains under investigation by the Brockton Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
