18-year-old Lexington man arrested after shooting at 378 | Lexington

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has charged Logan Nathanial Cason with firing shots from his SUV at a vehicle on Highway 378 near Lake Murray on Tuesday night.

According to authorities, Cason is charged with three counts of first-degree assault and pointing a firearm at a person.

“Officers interviewed a group of witnesses immediately following this incident, which we believe began as an incident of road rage,” said Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon. “All witnesses told officers that Cason fired a handgun into the air while driving, then pointed it at the car next to him and fired more shots.”

Before the shots were fired, beer bottles and cans were thrown from Cason’s car at the other car, according to Koon.

Koon says officers identified Cason as the suspected shooter when interviewing witnesses. Officers collected evidence, including several shell casings, that matched the witnesses’ accounts.

Cason was located by officers at a home near Lake Murray. He was arrested and taken to the Lexington County Detention Center.
