Investigations into drug offenses in Rocky Ford lead to a call to the bomb disposal squad

(ROCKY FORD, Colorado) — A drug investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies occurred in Rocky Ford on the evening of Friday, May 31. Bomb disposal services were called and the public was advised to avoid the area during the clearance.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation reported around 9:30 p.m. that it was assisting the Rocky Ford Police Department, Otero County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol with a drug investigation in the area of ​​the 900 block of Maple Avenue, near 9th Street. Investigators requested assistance from the Regional Bomb Disposal Squad after discovering a suspicious package.

No further reports were received on the results of the investigation, but Rocky Ford police announced around 11 p.m. that all roads were cleared and open and investigators had left the area.
