Man dies after incident on Llan-y-Pwll connecting road

Police have sadly confirmed that a man has died following an incident on the Llan-y-Pwll link road this afternoon.

Local police said in a statement this evening: “Police were called just after 3.30pm today to concerns for the safety of a man who was on the bridge on the A5156 Llan-y-Pwll link road near Wrexham.

“Officers were on site and the road was closed in both directions.

“Specialized police negotiators were on site, but the man fell from the bridge. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of all those involved, the man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

“The police investigation to clarify the exact circumstances is ongoing, the A5156 remains closed at the moment.

“Due to the nature of the incident, North Wales Police have informed the IOPC (Independent Office for Police Conduct). The man’s next of kin and the coroner have been informed.”
