Suspect arrested in Oakland freeway shooting caught on dashcam

OAKLAND, Calif. – A man suspected of firing a gun from his vehicle in Oakland in March was arrested by the California Highway Patrol, the agency said Monday.

At 9 a.m. on March 29, a motorist called police to report a driver on Interstate Highway 580 in Oakland firing “numerous shots” out the window of a white sedan near the Seminary Avenue exit, which the vehicle then hit got out.

CHP officers responded to the area but were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description, nor any victims or other witnesses.

However, the original caller had dashcam footage and turned it over to investigators.

Investigators identified 32-year-old Dominic Taylor of San Leandro as a suspect in the case.

On April 12, Taylor was seen driving in Oakland and arrested by police, who claimed he was driving under the influence.

Taylor was sentenced to prison on suspicion of intentionally and negligently discharging a firearm and discharging a firearm from a vehicle, both felonies. DUI and driving with a revoked license and no ignition interlock
