Philadelphia police are investigating after multiple shootings left people dead across the city Monday night.

According to police, the first fatal shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Monday night in the Kensington neighborhood when officers were dispatched to the area of ​​the 4900 block of Rorer Street after reports that a person had been shot.

According to officials, rescue workers found a man at the crime scene whose identity the police did not provide, but who had been shot several times.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where his condition was assessed shortly after his arrival, police officials said.

According to Philadelphia Police Inspector DF Pace, investigators believe the shooting occurred when officers believe two gunmen opened fire on a group of people across the street.

He said officers found at least two clusters of shell casings at the scene and that they were convinced members of the attacked group returned fire on the shooters at some point during the incident.

“We have multiple shell casings from multiple weapons at this location that our investigators are currently combing through,” he told NBC10.

No arrests have been made yet and police have not yet determined a motive for the incident, Pace said, but the investigation is ongoing.

Following this incident, less than an hour later, at approximately 10:57 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of ​​the 2500 block of Stanley Street and the nearby 3000 block of Cumberland Street.

According to Pace, police did not find a victim, but discovered at least 20 cartridge cases from a 9 mm firearm.

However, Pace said a short time later, a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the neck and chest was taken to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead at around 11:17 p.m., officials said.

Pace said police are still seeking more information about the incident and are searching for surveillance cameras in the area to determine how the shooting may have occurred.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, but the investigation is ongoing, Pace said.

During that incident, Pace said, officers discovered a 55-year-old woman who had been shot in the head. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead at around 11:21 p.m., Pace said.

Pace said officers found only one bullet casing at the scene and that the victim was killed near the driveway of her home.

“What we know for now is that the shooter appears to have been on foot on Wishart Street and at close range,” Pace said.

He said authorities are looking for surveillance footage of the shooting, but the motive for the shooting is still unknown.

However, Pace said the investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
