Arrest after shooting in Dover

DOVER – A 19-year-old Dover man was arrested on firearms possession and related charges following a shooting Monday morning, authorities said.

Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said the investigation began at 10:30 a.m. when officers were called to Harmony Lane for a report of shots fired.

An investigation ensued, Cpl. Schmid said and police determined Javon Johnson was responsible for the shooting.

Police said that during the incident, a vehicle containing a 20-year-old woman from Smyrna was struck by gunfire. She was not injured in this shooting.

Mr. Johnson was arrested without incident at an apartment in the 200 block of Harmony Lane, police said.

Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for the apartment. As a result of the search warrant, officers found a loaded 9mm Glock handgun, police said.

Mr. Johnson was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm/ammunition by a prohibited person (two counts), and reckless endangerment. He was booked into the Sussex Correctional Institution on $26,000 bail.
