Pettis County assisted living resident charged with assault over sexual incident

The Pettis County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man on May 6 for allegedly assaulting another person at the Pettis County Nursing Home.

The facility’s resident, Tyler K. Thomas of Sedalia, was reported by staff for assaulting another resident of the home on Monday around 10 p.m.

Court documents say Thomas told sheriffs that his girlfriend was asked to perform oral sex by the older victim and she said yes.

Upon hearing the information, he reportedly went to the victim’s room and confronted her.

Thomas told sheriffs that the victim allegedly wanted to fight, so he “beat him up,” a probable cause statement said.

The documents also noted that the victim did not have a right foot and was permanently confined to a wheelchair.

Thomas claimed that after the fight, he returned to his assigned room at the facility and staff later found the victim seriously injured in her bed.

Sheriffs reported the victim was severely injured, with one eye closed and swollen purple, and multiple broken bones in the eye socket, jaw and other areas of the face.

Thomas was charged with first-degree assault causing serious injury to a particular victim.

He was held on a 24-hour jail sentence and $50,000 bail or surety.
