18-year-old arrested after suspected vehicle theft

(KRON) – An 18-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle, according to Los Altos police.

Los Altos Police received a notification of a stolen vehicle near San Antonio Road and Loucks Avenue at 5:52 p.m. Sunday. Responding officers located the stolen vehicle and confirmed the vehicle was searched in the stolen vehicle system.

Officers conducted a check and arrested the driver. The driver was identified as an 18-year-old Santa Clara resident. He was arrested and booked into the San Jose Main Jail for joyriding.

The car was returned to the rightful owner.

According to Los Alto’s website, there were 16 vehicle thefts in 2023, a decrease from the previous year when there were 33 car thefts.
