Man was attacked twice over “false texts” | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: A text message from a minor boy mistakenly sent to the wrong recipient led to a brawl on the Ahmedabad-Mashirtavad highway not once but twice in a week. Here too, the victim is the cousin of the minor boy who was attacked by the same accused on Sunday. On May 12, 20-year-old Dharmik Saniya of Daskroi’s Badodara village and his two other family members were attacked by people named Kanu Bharwad and Satish Bharwad and six others over an erroneously sent SMS. Dharmik’s 16-year-old cousin tried to reach his classmate to know her grades in Class 10, but instead sent the SMS to an unknown woman whose husband, identified as Kanu Bharwad from Barejadi, committed the attack outside Dharmik’s restaurant in the near Badodara Patia on the Ahmedabad-Mashirtavad highway. The underage boy sent the text message to Kanu’s wife. She called back and asked who he wanted to talk to. The boy thought his classmate was making fun of him and insisted that he wanted to talk to her. The woman handed the phone to Kanu, who asked the boy about his whereabouts. The boy, shocked, said he was at his cousin’s restaurant on the highway. Later, Kanu and Satish along with some others rushed to Dharmik’s restaurant and attacked him and two others with sticks. In this case, Dharmik had filed a complaint on May 13 for grievous bodily harm, rioting, rioting with deadly weapons, intentional insult to provoke a breach of the peace, unlawful assembly and criminal intimidation. In the second incident, when Dharmik was returning home from his hotel on Sunday evening, Satish and three others on motorcycles stopped him on his way home. They dragged Dharmik out of his car and attacked him with sticks. Dharmik said one of them tried to attack him with a machete but he dodged the attack. The four threatened him because he had filed a complaint against them in the text message affair. The Vivekanandnagar police lodged a case of assault, criminal intimidation and abetting against Satish and three others.
