CT man accused of sexually abusing underage girls behind school

A Connecticut man who allegedly followed two teenage girls into the woods behind a Montville school and demanded sex acts has been extradited from Massachusetts to face criminal charges.

Carlos Davila, 21, of New London, was extradited from Franklin County, Massachusetts, on Wednesday and returned to Connecticut to face charges of attempted first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, according to the Connecticut State Police.

The charges stem from July 2021, when police said Davila met two girls at Oakdale Elementary School in Montville, followed them into the woods and demanded a sexual act from one of them, the arrest warrant affidavit said.

Davila allegedly placed his hands on one of the girls’ shoulders, “pushed her to her knees” and exposed himself, the affidavit states.

The girls ran away and one reported the incident the next day, according to the affidavit.

On July 21, 2021, state police were called to a home in the Oakdale neighborhood of Montville after one of the girls, then 14, claimed that a then-19-year-old man made sex propositions to her, the affidavit states.

Officers spoke with the girl – identified in the arrest warrant as “Victim 1” – and her family and learned that she had met Davila through a friend and had spoken to him online, the arrest warrant affidavit said.

She claimed she told Davila she was 14 years old and didn’t know he was older than her, the affidavit said.

When they wanted to meet, she brought a friend with her because she didn’t feel comfortable going alone, according to the affidavit. She said she and her friend agreed that the meeting “wouldn’t be sexual,” the affidavit says, but that Davila allegedly “made it clear that it was about sex.”

After the meeting at school, the girl told state police that Davila briefly went to a store, came back and allegedly followed the girls up a hill to some nearby trails, the affidavit states.

There, she said, he allegedly asked her “who’s going to do this” and exposed himself, the affidavit said.

He also allegedly tried to convince one of the girls to get into his car “to do sexual things” and allegedly said he wanted to smoke marijuana with them, the affidavit states.

Investigators also interviewed the other girl, identified in the affidavit as “Victim 2.”

The girl told state police that she was with her friend, “Victim 1,” and was talking about a man she met on Instagram. She said the man allegedly called the girl and told her to meet them at school, the affidavit states.

According to the affidavit, she confirmed that she saw Davila push her friend to her knees. She also told state police that she allegedly saw her boyfriend messaging Davila before the meeting and telling him how old she was, the affidavit said.

When investigators were shown a photo, both girls reportedly identified Davila as the man they had been seeing, the affidavit states.

An arrest warrant was issued in December 2021, but Davila fled to Massachusetts, where he was arrested and convicted on unrelated charges, according to state police.

On Wednesday, Connecticut troopers went to the Franklin County Jail in Massachusetts and took Davila into custody, state police said.

Davila was being held at the Corrigan Correctional Center in Montville in lieu of $150,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Norwich, according to state police.
