Scotland Neck Woman Shot, Photos Appear on Social Media; 2 men also shot

SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. (WNCN) – Police in a Halifax County town are now reporting a woman and two men were shot inside a home Saturday morning.

Scotland Neck police also addressed photos that surfaced on social media of the injured woman being shot while lying on the ground outside the home.

According to a news release from the Scotland Neck Police Department, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 1700 block of Woodlawn Drive in Scotland Neck.

A woman was shot in the thigh “during a confrontation between two men” inside the home, police said.

She was stabilized and flown from Scotland Neck to ECU Health in Greenville.

The two men inside the home were also shot in an incident that police described as “domestic.”

A Scotland Neck area man suffered a “severe gunshot wound” while the other Tarboro man was hit by a bullet in the thigh, police said.

Police said photos of the wounded woman on social media “went viral within 30 minutes, garnering over 3,000 views.”

Officials said they played no role in the photos.

“We let our viewers know that WE have NOT released such images to the public and that if family members wish to express their feelings, it is beyond our control,” the press release said.

Police said charges will be filed in the shooting.

Officials added that no details would be released and “all parties involved in the incident are recovering and cooperating with our investigation.”
