After losing her ear in an accident, a woman revealed how she fits a prosthetic ear every day and applies makeup to make it blend in with her face

  • A TikToker has gone viral for showing people how she attaches a prosthetic ear every day.

  • She said she originally lost her ear in an accident in which she fell on electric railroad tracks.

  • Many viewers said they learned about prosthetic ears for the first time, and many praised them.

A woman explains to TikTokers the daily process of putting in a prosthetic ear and how she applies makeup so it blends in with the rest of her face.

In a May 2022 video, she claimed that she lost her left ear after accidentally slipping on an electric train track. The incident had also left her in a temporary coma.

A year later, user @kierahoaree posted a video in May showing off her prosthetic ear, which was viewed over 12 million times.

@Kierahoaree described the complicated daily routine of applying and blending into her ear to keep it looking natural. She said she starts with a headband and bobby pins to remove any piece of hair from the area otherwise it will stick to her ear.

“Then I just use a regular moisturizer to keep it hydrated, otherwise it can get quite irritated during the day while the glue is being applied,” she says.

She then glues the prosthetic ear – which is decorated with numerous piercings and a long dangling earring – to her head with medical adhesive, making sure it is symmetrically aligned.

Next, the TikToker applies “camouflage makeup” made specifically for her skin tone and dabs it around the ear scar.

“It’s just easier, removes it and makes it look a little more realistic,” she says.

Finally, she adds setting powder to set everything, which she wipes off after five minutes. Once everything is done, she removes the headband and continues with her normal hair routine.

“The point of this is that if you look really closely it won’t look entirely real,” explained @kierahoaree. “But if you look at it at first glance and you don’t know my story, I don’t think you would know.”

The comments were overwhelmingly supportive and appreciative, with many saying this was their first encounter with the ear replacement phenomenon. Others marveled at how cool the ear looked with so many piercings.

“I’ve never seen a prosthetic ear before!” one person wrote. “Your piercing jewelry is an excellent choice babes, you look great.”

Others pointed out that she was able to get so many piercings in that ear without enduring pain or having to deal with the long healing process.

The TikToker’s original video explaining how she lost her ear was posted in May 2022, three months after she said the incident occurred.

She said she was with her boyfriend and a friend and while walking across train tracks, she fell so badly that she suffered “massive third-degree burns” on multiple areas of her body, including the outside of her thighs.

“My head basically fell back and my friend had to get on the tracks, wrap my down coat around my arm and pull me down,” she said. “Thanks to him because without him I wouldn’t be here.”

She said she was not aware that tracks in the UK were electrified, which had become an increasing safety risk across the country.

After ambulances were called and she was incubated in the ward, she said she lay in a coma in the intensive care unit for a week and a half before waking up.

She ended the video by urging people to be careful around train tracks and said she now has a sense of humor because of how she handled the incident.

“I made a mistake, I was stupid, and I can reflect on that now and I’ve learned my lesson,” she said. “Don’t walk on rails – they are actually live – and are from someone who has been electrocuted.”
