Cold Spring man convicted of sexually abusing a young girl

St. Cloud ( WJON News) – A Cold Spring man who sexually assaulted a young girl was sentenced in Stearns County District Court.

A judge sentenced 42-year-old Hector Medina Acosta to three years’ probation. He will be on supervised probation for 25 years.

Medina Acosta pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 13.

According to court documents, Medina Acosta abused the girl when she was only 10 years old. The abuse occurred between 2013 and 2015, when the victim and Medina Acosta lived together. The girl said Medina Acosta touched her inappropriately several times during that time.

Investigators spoke to Medina Acosta, who admitted to groping the girl and leaving the house because he had problems with his wife and to keep his distance from the victim so nothing else would happen.
