Hit and run in Escambia County under investigation

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) – Florida Highway Patrol authorities announced they are searching for the person responsible for a hit-and-run crash that left a Pensacola man seriously injured over the weekend.

FHP police said two vehicles were involved in the incident, which occurred on July 27 at 12:48 p.m. on State Road 292 (North Pace Boulevard) and West Lloyd Street:

  • A limousine is traveling west on West Lloyd Street approaching North Pace Boulevard
  • A pickup truck is traveling north in the inside lane of North Pace Boulevard approaching West Lloyd Street

LOCATION:

The crash

According to a press release from the FHP, the incident began when the driver of the sedan “failed to stop and stop at the stop sign to yield the road before entering the intersection.” This caused the left rear of the sedan to collide with the front of the pickup truck.

The collision caused the pickup truck to spin counterclockwise and eventually come to a stop westbound at the intersection of North Pace Boulevard and W Lloyd Street, the press release said.

The driver of the pickup truck suffered serious injuries in the accident, authorities said.

Search for the suspect

According to authorities, the sedan fled the scene and was last seen heading south on North Pace Boulevard.

The vehicle, described as a red/maroon four-door sedan, left a front and rear bumper at the scene. According to accident reports, the bumper belonged to a Nissan Altima.

The address of the suspect vehicle was given as a foreclosed house, but no one was inside, the press release said.

The FHP investigation is still ongoing.
