Boston police arrest suspect after stabbing near Charles Street


BOSTON, MA – A stabbing attack in downtown Boston led to the quick arrest of 19-year-old Kymani Walker of Mattapan. The arrest was made around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, following a reported assault near 215 Charles Street.

When Boston Police Officers from District A-1 arrived on the scene, they found an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. Boston EMS immediately transported the victim to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries that were deemed non-life threatening.

Initial reports indicated that the attacker fled toward the rear of the Liberty Hotel. Following a description given by officers on the radio, Massachusetts State Police found Walker near Teddy Ebersol’s Red Sox field. He was promptly arrested and charged with armed assault with murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Walker is expected to face these charges in Boston Municipal Court while the investigation continues. This incident highlights the rapid response of local law enforcement in conjunction with state police to ensure public safety.

  • Man grazed by bullet while walking dog in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden neighborhood

    PITTSBURGH, PA — A shooting in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden neighborhood left a man hospitalized after a bullet grazed him near his right eye. The shooting occurred just before 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Narcissus Avenue and Bergman Street and was triggered by a ShotSpotter alert.

    When Pittsburgh police arrived, they found the victim on nearby Hillsboro Street. He reported that while he was walking his dog, a person got out of a vehicle, fired shots, and then sped away in the same car. Public safety officials said the man was taken to the hospital in stable condition and was conscious and alert throughout the ordeal.

    As they worked to reconstruct the details of the incident, investigators on the scene discovered gunshot damage to nearby homes and at least one vehicle, as well as shell casings.

  • Elizabeth City woman charged in shooting; boyfriend arrested on drug charges

    ELIZABETH CITY, NC — An incident early Saturday morning in Elizabeth City has led to the arrest of a woman and her boyfriend. Porscha Brown, 36, faces serious charges including homicide with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault, discharging a firearm within city limits and domestic violence.

    The arrest came after police responded to a shooting in the 1600 block of Brookridge Drive, where they found a man injured by gunfire. The injured man, identified as Darren Jernigan, 42, was later charged with several drug offenses.

    Jernigan, who is also Brown’s boyfriend, was charged with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with intent to sell/distribute, maintaining a dwelling for the storage of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Albemarle District Jail and released after posting $50,000 bail.

    Meanwhile, Brown was held at the same facility for 48 hours on domestic violence charges and given a $50,000 bond. Elizabeth City Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
