Gordon Ramsay gets back on his bike a month after his horror accident and is “happy to still be here”

Gordon Ramsay is back on his bike just a month after a serious accident and felt “lucky” to be alive.

The 57-year-old celebrity chef announced on Instagram on Monday that he had started cycling again after the incident in America that left him shaken.

In June, Ramsay announced on social media that he was in “pain” after a horrific bike accident and showed off his injured body.

Now the TV star has posted a heartwarming update about his five-year-old son Oscar from Cornwall.

In the video, Ramsay is seen riding along a remote trail and can be heard praising his son’s efforts on two wheels: “You’re doing so well, by the way. Helmet on, gears intact, eyes on the road, OK? Good boy.”

He pointed the camera at himself, wearing a helmet and sunglasses, and added: “It’s so nice to be back on the bike.”

The chef then joked: “There he goes. Slow down or the police will catch you speeding – please don’t get caught speeding, your sister will not be impressed.”

He also shared a clip of himself preparing to use a Zwift exercise bike, joking that “this ride will be a lot safer.”

Last month, the restaurant owner shared photos of his torn clothes and crushed helmet while riding his bike in the US state of Connecticut.

In an Instagram video, he showed a bruise that apparently covered a large part of his upper body and stomach.

Ramsay said at the time: “Hey guys, this is Gordon. I want to share some very important news with you all.

“You know how much I love cycling, triathlon and Ironman (races) etc and unfortunately this week I had a really bad accident which has really shaken me and honestly I’m glad to be here.

“These incredible trauma surgeons, doctors and nurses in the hospitals have taken care of me this week. They have been amazing, but honestly, you have to wear a helmet.

“I don’t care how short the ride is. I don’t care… these helmets cost money, but they are essential. Even on short rides, kids have to wear a helmet now.

“I’m glad I can stand here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. But somehow I’m getting through it.”

Ramsay also captioned the post saying that he was “fine and didn’t break any bones or sustain any major injuries but did have a few bruises and looked like a purple potato.”

He added that he was treated at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut, and that the helmet “saved” his life.
