Child shot on North Kenwood Avenue, police say

Police: 12-year-old shot on North Kenwood Avenue

Good evening. I’m Commissioner Rich Worley. At approximately 8 p.m. this evening, officers received a call regarding a shooting. The call was about a young lady who was shot in the 500 block of North Kenwood. When our officers got here, they found a 12-year-old lady with a gunshot wound inside the home. They attempted to resuscitate her and pronounced the young lady dead. We have our victim advocates here. Homicide victim advocates are here to assist the family. We are trying to get as much information as we can on a possible suspect. As soon as we have it, we will release it so we can send it to any media that we have available to us to try to find that person at this time. If you know of anything, please call 8667 lockdown or call our homicide unit at 410396 2100. I will turn the floor over to Mayor Scott. Thank you, Commissioner. We are here tonight because the worst among us, the *** cowardly scum of the earth, decided to take the life of a *** 12 year old. Uh, this young lady had *** her whole life ahead of her. But *** cowards took her life simply because they are *** cowards in the scum of the earth. I want this person to know that we will find you. You will never repent for what you did tonight, but we will find you. Your best chance is to walk into *** the police station tonight and turn yourself in because the whole city will be looking for you because Baltimore will not tolerate someone cowardly taking the life of a *** 12 year old. Turn yourself in now and try to keep some humanity in you. What is an empty shell of a *** body and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the community. As you can see, there are *** many community members out here. All right, now we are taking questions. We will start on this side and work our way forward. One question per source. Like I said, this is a very active investigation right now. Channel 10, I know it’s early. Do we know what was going on prior to the shooting? We’re still trying to figure that out. And I think we have to be clear that this is a 12-year-old bitch. So it doesn’t matter what was going on. There’s nothing a 12-year-old bitch can do that justifies what happened in that house tonight, right? So nothing else matters other than that we find and arrest this person because no 12-year-old should lose their life to violence, let alone in their home, in a 12-year-old bitch’s home. Jeff, 525, do we know if this was a 12-year-old bitch? I can tell you, it was not an accident, it was not an accident. It was done on purpose. And Jeff, again, whether this is a 12-year-old bitch or not. It’s a 12-year-old girl. That’s all that matters. You’re talking about a 12-year-old girl, that’s all that matters. Nothing else matters. Um, was she shot once? How many times did she do that? We don’t know yet. We just noticed that she was pronounced dead in her home. Um, I was in her home, do we know? Also, we heard that the possible suspect in Patterson Park didn’t say anything about it. We don’t want that. That’s not true at this point. Um, and we’re still trying to figure out if that was her home or if she was just visiting. All right. Thanks, guys. Thanks, guys. Thanks.
