Aurora man arrested in Fort Collins for alleged sexual exploitation of child

FORT COLLINS, Colorado – A 60-year-old Aurora man was arrested after traveling to Fort Collins to allegedly perform sexual acts with an underage girl.

According to Fort Collins police, an investigation was launched after 60-year-old Roger Leon Estergaard contacted an underage online persona. After several conversations, Estergaard allegedly traveled to Fort Collins “under the belief he would contact an underage female to engage in sexual activity,” police said.

Estergaard was arrested on Thursday after arriving at the agreed meeting point. He was arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a child on the internet, luring a child on the internet and attempted sexual assault of a child.

“The diligent work these teams did to secure Estergaard is commendable. It takes a great deal of patience and thorough investigation to follow up on leads and orchestrate an arrest like this,” FCPS Deputy Chief Kristy Volesky said in a statement. “It is very satisfying to be able to tell the public that we have stopped this type of planned and planned sexual abuse.”
