Possible chlorine leak at Riverside pool prompts hazardous materials investigation – NBC Los Angeles

At least two children were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon following a hazardous materials incident at a city event in Riverside.

The Riverside Fire Department said nearly two dozen children were in a swimming pool around 2:30 p.m. when patrons noticed a chemical odor coming from the water. Everyone in the pool immediately left the pool.

Two children were taken to a nearby hospital for reasons not specified by the authorities. The others were examined and treated on site.

A fire crew arrived and began investigating the incident. Riverside Fire believed a chlorine spill had occurred.
