Driver identified after fatal crash in Woodward Township | News, Sports, Jobs

The driver who died Tuesday morning when his three-axle logging truck veered off Route 220 and landed in thick brush in Woodward Township, just south of the city limits, has been identified as William Mundy of Avis. Investigators have determined the 61-year-old Clinton County man died of natural causes, according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr.

Heading north on Route 220, Mundy suddenly veered off the highway and careened 150 to 200 feet into the undergrowth, striking several trees, Kiessling said. The crash occurred at about 6:30 a.m., and traffic was limited to one lane for about five hours, according to a state Department of Transportation spokeswoman.
