Candace Owens starts fight with randomly selected Jews in direct messages

Candace Owens – who bizarrely claimed last week that some reports about Nazi doctor Josef Mengele’s experiments on Holocaust victims were “propaganda” because they were a “waste of materials” – attacked Jewish artist and activist Zoe Buckman in private messages after Buckman criticized the remarks, Page Six has learned.

After the Instagram account Jewish on Campus posted a summary of the podcast claiming that Owens had “called Holocaust education ‘indoctrination,’ Hitler’s actions during the Holocaust merely ‘nationalism,’ and the proven Nazi atrocities ‘bizarre propaganda,'” Buckman responded publicly on the social media platform, calling Owens’ claims “nasty” and saying that “there is never a need to downplay the experience of the Holocaust for any of the groups that killed it or survived it.”

Now we hear that Owens sent a private message to Buckman – the ex-wife of “Friends” star David Schwimmer – in which she ranted: “You literally believe everything you read as long as you can play the victim. It’s really unbelievable.”

“For once, it really wasn’t about you,” Owens said. “Believe it or not, other groups suffered genocide too and this was their story.”

The former Daily Wire employee made the remarks in a podcast last week, reportedly during a discussion about the 2015 BBC documentary “1945: The Savage Peace,” which examines the mass murder of German Christians immediately after World War II.

Owens then told Buckman to “shut up” and listen to the entire episode before commenting on it.

Buckman – whose work has been shown at the Whitney Museum and the National Portrait Gallery in London, among other places – tells us: “It’s a pattern we see all the time: the anti-Semite denies or trivializes an atrocity committed against the Jews and forces the Jewish people to respond objectively and truthfully. The anti-Semite then accuses the Jews of ‘playing the victim.’ This adds another layer of bigotry and gaslighting.”

“We do not victimize ourselves,” Buckman continued in a statement. “All over the world and throughout the centuries, Jews have been persecuted and mass attempts have been made to wipe out our existence. And yet, in each generation, we respond by doubling down on our hard work and our core values ​​of learning, giving and creating.”

Owens parted ways with the Daily Wire in March after reportedly arguing with co-founder Ben Shapiro over Israel and anti-Semitism earlier this year.

Owen’s work was approvingly described by white supremacist Nick Fuentes as a “full-blown war on the Jews.” The Anti-Defamation League called it “fanatical.”

Owens told us in a statement, “I did not ‘jump into a Jewish artist’s DMs.’ Rather, a Jewish artist jumped into my DMs, tagging me with a blatant lie so she could play the victim. When people lie about something I say and then attack me in my DMs, I reserve the right to tell them to shut up and stop playing the victim. As fashionable and irresistible as it has become to attack others while playing the victim, it is far more dignified to simply keep your mouth shut when you are unable to tell the truth.”

In Tuesday’s podcast, Owens said: “The Nazis experimented on innocent people. Some of the stories sound completely absurd, by the way. They just cut a person up and sewed them back together? Why would you do that? Even if you’re the most evil person in the world, that’s literally a huge waste of time and materials. It just sounds like bizarre propaganda.”

The atrocities committed by Mengele, known as the Angel of Death, against prisoners in Nazi concentration camps such as Auschwitz are well documented.

After the allegations were met with widespread outrage, a source close to Owens told the Washington Post earlier this week that she had “never denied that Mengele conducted experiments.”

“This is a misleading edited clip. In fact, if you listen to the entire episode, you’ll hear Candace condemning medical experimentation,” the source said.

“The reason this particular episode is so detrimental to Zionism is because they have corrupted American minds into believing we must defend Israel on moral grounds and because of the evils of the Holocaust,” she tweeted along with the clip. “Learning how many people who committed Holocausts and mass murder were protected by Israel disrupts that narrative.”

Strong Israel activist and Congressman Ritchie Torres tweeted: “In Candace Owens’ fictional account of WWII, the real victims were not Jews but Germans; the real villains were not the Axis powers but the Allies. She trivializes the Holocaust and accuses the US and its allies of ‘ethnically cleansing’ the Germans. Anyone who harbors hatred in their heart can be either ignorant or malicious. Candace Owens is both ignorant and malicious, both stupid and sinister.”
