Vermont State Police shoot man during Sunday confrontation in Burke – NECN

According to the Vermont State Police, a man was shot during an altercation with police officers in the town of Burke on Sunday evening.

The shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. near the intersection of Route 114 and Pinkham Road, state police said. The man was taken to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury for treatment of his injuries. There was no immediate update on his condition.

The police officers involved were not injured, state police said.

The investigation is still in its early stages. State police said the identity of the man shot will not be released until family members have been notified and further investigation has been conducted.

According to standard protocol, the names of the soldiers who fired their weapons will not be disclosed for at least 24 hours.
