Janet Needham of Muldrow died in a car accident near Sallisaw

A Muldrow woman died Tuesday after she was thrown from a pickup truck in a crash in Sequoyah County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Janet Needham, 66, was ejected from the 2012 Ram 3500 she was driving when it collided with a 2016 Ram 2500 at the intersection of two rural roads about 3 miles east of Sallisaw, a preliminary report said. She was taken to a hospital in Sallisaw, where she was pronounced dead, the report said.

The police said she was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the other pickup truck and his passenger, both of whom were wearing seat belts, were not injured, the report said.

The accident occurred around 2:20 p.m. at the corner of 1070 Road and 4670 Road.

The circumstances and cause of the collision are currently being investigated.
