Former Detroit Lions cornerback Cam Sutton suspended for eight games

Former Detroit Lions cornerback and current Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cam Sutton was suspended without pay for the first eight games of the 2024 NFL season for violating the league’s conduct rules, according to reports Monday.

Sutton will be eligible to return to the league on October 29, one day after Pittsburgh’s Week 8 clash with the New York Giants.

“Cameron Sutton of the Pittsburgh Steelers will be suspended without pay for the first eight games of the 2024 regular season for violating the NFL’s Rules of Conduct, it was announced (Monday),” the league office said in a statement. “The NFL investigated the March incident involving Sutton and determined that he violated the Rules of Conduct.”

Sutton was released by the Lions on March 21 after it was revealed he was wanted by police in Florida for an incident that occurred on March 7. He was eventually arrested and charged with assault.

The Tennessee product was released on his own bail and later signed a one-year contract with the Steelers in early June.

Sutton played one year with the Lions and signed a three-year contract with the team before last season. He recorded 65 tackles and one interception. He spent the last six seasons with the Steelers before joining the Lions.
