Missing two-year-old from Pullman found in Mexico, father arrested

PULLMAN, Wash. – A 2-year-old child missing from Pullman has been found in Mexico, and his father is being held in an Arizona detention center on custody violations.

According to Pullman police, the 2-year-old girl was found at a roadside checkpoint near Santa Ana, Mexico, traveling with her biological father, Aaron Aung, and his fiancée, 21-year-old Nadia Cole.

Cole was reported missing in SeaTac in late May and was believed to be traveling with Aung, whose whereabouts were unknown at the time.

Aung and Cole were detained by authorities in Mexico and subsequently turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The FBI coordinated with authorities at the National Migration Institute, Mexican State Police, Nogales Police Department, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to locate the child and return her home safely. The girl was placed in the custody of Arizona Child Protective Services.

Aung is currently being held at the Santa Cruz County Detention Center in Nogales, Arizona, awaiting extradition to Whitman County to face false imprisonment charges.
