NORMAN – Oklahoma State Police said two children died in an ATV accident that occurred near Norman last Sunday.

According to state police, the accident occurred around 4 p.m. at Happyland ATV Park near the South Canadian River, one mile west of Norman in Cleveland County.

According to OHP, 31-year-old Kendra Mann of Newalla was operating a Polaris Ranger ATV during the incident. Her passengers were Kelsey Drummer 26 and juveniles ages 8 months to 6 years old, all of Newalla.

The two adults and a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old boy were unharmed. A 2-year-old and an 8-month-old boy were stuck for 20 minutes before they were freed by rescuers and taken to Norman Healthplex. The 8-month-old boy was pronounced dead on Sunday and the 2-year-old on Wednesday.

OHP said the driver’s condition, seat belt use and cause of the crash remain under investigation. No helmets were worn. State police were assisted at the scene by EMSTAT, Norman Police and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department.
