Tragic fire in a vacation home in Necedah claims six lives. The neighbor next door was awakened by the noise of cars and fire trucks and took this photo of the flames early Sunday morning.

Zielinski says he heard the children playing outside the day before, enjoying their family reunion.

KEN “We’ve been hearing kids playing in the pool next door all day and it’s… a shame… a shame.”

NBC 26 met with Ken on Tuesday, who was too emotional to speak on camera about the tragedy at the time.

Officials at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Green Bay say Steve Witte, a former pastor at the church, died in the fire, along with his two daughters, Lydia Witte and Charis Kuehl, and his granddaughters, Stella Kuehl, Lena Henslelin and Merci Henselin.

We contacted the current property owner by searching the property tax documents.

Although he has not confirmed this to us, Wisconsin property tax records show him as the current owner.

Several other neighbors who did not want to appear on camera told us that the cabin had only been listed on Airbnb a few weeks ago.

According to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department, the fire appears to be an accident, but the investigation is ongoing.
