Stabbing in New York's East Village leaves one dead and two injured

One person was killed, two others injured and a man taken into custody in a triple stabbing attack on Sunday in Manhattan’s East Village, police said.

Shortly before 6 p.m., New York Police Department officers responded to several calls reporting a stabbing near Avenue A and East 14th Street in Lower Manhattan.

When officers arrived, they found three people with stab wounds: a 38-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck, a 51-year-old woman had an injury to her leg and another 32-year-old man had been stabbed in the back, according to the NYPD.

Authorities took each of the victims by ambulance to nearby hospitals, where the elderly man was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD. Police declined to release his name because his family had not yet been properly notified..
