The Wake County district attorney said she has asked the SBI to investigate State Treasurer Dale Folwell’s use of state vehicles.

RALEIGH, NC – Investigators are looking into possible misconduct by State Treasurer Dale Folwell.

The Wake County district attorney said she asked the SBI to investigate his use of state vehicles.

Executives may use government vehicles only for government purposes or approved work trips.

Folwell is from Forsyth County and has been state treasurer since 2017.

In a statement he replied:

“We are grateful that the media has brought these details to light as we have been asking for information and clarity for nearly a year. During the course of this review we have provided pages of documentation. We look forward to continuing to work with the Department of Motor Fleet Management to resolve this issue satisfactorily. I am a constant treasurer and have a reputation for transparency. I am always thinking about how I can do things better and more efficiently in the interest of taxpayers, which includes the use of the state car.”
