Tropical outlook:

Tropical Storm Alberto, the first name of the hurricane season, will continue to move westward toward Mexico’s central coast near Tampico overnight.

The center of the storm will remain to the south and make landfall in Mexico.

Whatever the training, our impacts are the same. We will see wind gusts up to 30 mph, rough seas, high rip currents and a threat of flooding. We can expect to see precipitation decrease early Thursday, but coastal flooding will continue through Thursday morning.

If a tropical system develops, the center of the storm will be over Mexico.

Rest of the week:

Thursday will return to more typical summer weather: hot, sticky and humid. We will see a few scattered storms in the afternoon, remainder of Alberto’s overall flow as it moves toward Mexico. The weekend will be warm and mostly rain-free, except for a few occasional storms each afternoon.

10-day forecast:

Tropical showers early in the week will keep temperatures in the 80s. Rain chances will diminish over the weekend, but we will remain in a wet pattern along the Gulf Coast next week.
