Employee dies after fall in Lancaster City Hotel: Police | Local news

A hotel employee died Sunday when he fell into a hole at the Holiday Inn in Lancaster City, city police said.

Lancaster City Fire Department responded to the East Chestnut Street hotel around 2:50 p.m. Sunday for a report of an employee’s fall. Fire and police officials encountered employees who said they found the man unconscious.

Emergency responders attempted to save the man’s life but were unable to resuscitate him, police said. The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office then arrived at the scene.

Police believe a steel grate was temporarily moved for maintenance work and the man, who was reportedly an employee, fell into the exposed hole.

The police are continuing their investigation.
